This image is taken from the furthest possible angle from the main marina building. It does to some extent showcase the modern high-rise tower of the Taj Mahal Tower on the right, and the historic palace on the left. The clipper ships of the east with the silhouette of a cruise ship stationed at the port provide the detail at the ocean level. The expansiveness of the image is enhanced with people silhouetted against the orange sky. The ruining homes of the people who used to live where these beautiful, yet empty structures now stand, as it happens in many parts of Mumbai (and many cities in developing countries), additionally present one more comparison of a colonial past and a prominent historic presence that was later stamped out by modern development.
The shadows mellowed by a warm and hazy light, the ocean-blue light spilling here and there in the photograph hints at an invitation from the distant City of Joy for the bustling modern-day Mumbai to come and learn the joys of life which it can't yet fathom.
